The Cottage Garden

Step into the enchanting garden at Cherrymount Cottage, where tranquility and nature are all around. Given it’s urban location and proximity to the town centre we are very proud of the outdoor space which our guests can enjoy at Cherrymount Cottage.

Our garden is not just a space to admire, but a sanctuary to immerse yourself in and enjoy. we look on it as an outdoor room, an extension of your accommodation and we would encourage you to make the most of it during your stay.

Safety is paramount, and our garden gates can be securely closed to ensure the little ones can play safely. Wander through the garden and delight in the vibrant hues of colourful blooms that fill the garden, creating a picturesque setting for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Fruits of the garden

Embrace the essence of our Irish heritage with our ancient apple tree, which generously yields a bountiful harvest in autumn. Guests are encouraged to pluck ripe fruit straight from the tree and savour its freshness.

The tree in the front garden is an ancient Irish Heritage variety delightfully named Greasy Pippin which was once widely grown in County Fermanagh and to a lesser degree Co Tyrone so it is a true local native. These trees were almost lost until efforts were made to catalogue and preserve our native apple trees. The walled garden at nearby Florence Court House now has one of the most extensive collections of apple trees on the island of Ireland and is well worth a visit.

The fruit of the Greasy pippin is round, flattened and slightly uneven, pale yellow with a golden to orange blush, slight russet veining, and a remarkably waxy or ‘greasy’ skin, which helps it to resist water-loss. The flesh is creamy-white, firm and crisp, fairly juicy, sweet and well flavoured. The fruit sweetens in store, and little sugar is needed when it’s used for cooking. It can be used both for eating and cooking.

Ready for Harvest in The Glass House

The Glass House

Venture into our glasshouse, where a treasure trove of treats awaits throughout the year. From fresh herbs to seasonal vegetables, guests are welcome to indulge in garden-fresh delights. Look out for little signs indicating when crops are ready for harvest, inviting you to pick your own and enjoy the wholesome goodness of garden-fresh produce. Of course we cannot guarantee that there will be produce ready for harvest during your stay, but if there is you are welcome to try some.

Relax and enjoy

As evening falls, unwind with a glass of your favorite tipple at the garden picnic table and marvel as “Wilson,” our robotic lawnmower, diligently tends to the grass, leaving you free to simply enjoy the serene surroundings.

For a culinary delight, fire up the barbecue and let the aroma of delicious food fill the air, creating the perfect ambiance for a leisurely outdoor meal.
